Ruth Wilson badly wanted off Showtime’s The Affair

Ruth Wilson won a Golden globe award for her role as Alison in Showtime’s hit series The Affair. Episode 8 delivered a shocking revelation to the audience when the lead & most important subject of the entire series dies. Turns out Ruth Wilson had complained about the earnings disparity between male & female lead actors in a Radio times interview in February.

“I definitely get less money than a male in my situation would. Definitely,” Wilson said. “He definitely gets more than me. I mean, I don’t know what the figure is, but I’m sure he does.” Said Ruth Wilson

“Ruth wanted to leave the show. It wasn’t a discovery of any kind. That was very deliberate. And actually, we shot all of her work first. Her whole storyline was shot before we shot anything else.” said Sarah Treem (Showrunner) to the Hollywood Reporter.

Showtime didn’t confirm the reasons for her departure, but it seems Ruth Wilson felt she deserved better. Just finished catching up to episode 9 & what a twist of events (No spoilers).
